Description:
Virtuosity has a name: Alexander Rosenblatt. The composer and pianist, born in Moscow in 1956, is a master at brilliantly showcasing the instrument in question and pulls out all the technical and musical stops. In doing so, he also picks up elements from jazz and always spices his music with a pinch of humor. This is also the case with the Carmen Fantasy, in which he transforms well-known themes from Bizet's opera into an extremely effective concert piece. The fantasy can be played with either clarinet or violin and piano and is a competition piece in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and St. Petersburg in June 2011.
