For a long time, Swedish composer Bernhard Henrik Crusell was considered an insider tip among clarinetists, but his concertos have now found their way onto concert stages. No wonder, given the ravishing music with which Crusell - himself a clarinet virtuoso of international standing - has enriched the early Romantic repertoire. Crusell's works need not fear comparison with Weber's and Spohr's clarinet literature. Our Urtext edition of the F minor concerto marks the beginning of a new edition of all three of Crusell's clarinet concertos, which are in the best possible hands with the editor and clarinetist Nicolai Pfeffer, who combines editorial experience with practical understanding of playing.
