The playbook offers a rich selection of short pieces for various combinations of instrumentation (up to three clarinets/with piano and guitar accompaniment). All parts are kept at approximately the same level of difficulty so that pupils of the same ability level can play together. The piano/guitar parts are always available in two versions: as an accompaniment for Bb instruments and as an accompaniment for C instruments. This principle is only abandoned for the very last pieces, because it can then be assumed that the students have a Bb clarinet.

The playbook can be used independently of the clarinet school (Das Klarinettenspiel Volume 2, BA 6642), but is coordinated with the school in terms of structure (range and level of difficulty).

Folk songs and international folklore as well as spirituals are combined with well-known classical pieces and the author's own compositions to create a stylistically varied audition book.
