A staple of the New Year's Concert! Brahms drew inspiration for his 21 "Hungarian Dances" from the Hungarian violinist Eduard Reményi. Originally composed for piano four hands, these dances reference traditional Hungarian airs and dances (verbunkos and csárdás). They have been orchestrated and arranged numerous times, and have appeared in films such as Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator", Yves Robert's "Le Retour du Grand Blond", and even in "Bugs Bunny".
