Description:
Amand Vanderhagen was not only one of the leading clarinettists of his time, but also a pioneering pedagogue whose teaching works shaped clarinet playing throughout Europe. As a Flemish musician who made a career in Paris, he combined the rich tradition of his homeland with the splendor of classical music.
This work is a typical "theme with variations" composed in a style that was obviously inspired by virtuoso clarinet playing. Despite Vanderhagen's fame during his lifetime, this work was never published and fell into oblivion. This first publication makes it audible again.
