Description:
This arrangement of the well-known violin sonata is based on the volume (E/1–2) published in the complete works of Leoš Janáček.
Israeli clarinetist Shirley Brill, who teaches at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, has arranged the work for her instrument with a keen sense of the original’s tonal qualities.
At the same time, her version showcases the specific capabilities of the clarinet; in a few places, it was necessary to adapt the piano accompaniment as well. This arrangement was commissioned by the International Janáček Competition in Brno, where it will serve as a competition piece in September.
