Anyone who plays the flute knows many sonatas, trios and concertos composed in the decades from 1700-1760. However, the technical skills for playing this music are often acquired from etudes and pieces of a different style. In this edition, original compositions of medium difficulty for the flute without accompaniment, which prepare stylistically and technically for the music of that period, have now been compiled in larger numbers. These pieces are by French composers who were contemporaries of Couperin, Rameau, Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and Telemann. They are recital pieces, but at the same time they are also precursors of the etude. The form of the rondeau and typical dance movements of the time were preferred.
