Die jetzt erstmals wieder veröffentlichten Stücke für 2 Flöten und Klavier op. 65, die 1909 unter dem etwas sperrigen Titel '16 charakteristische Stücke für 2 Flöten und Klavier' gedruckt wurden, gehören zu den reifen Alterswerken des Komponisten und mit der Opuszahl 65 zu seinem vorletzten gedruckten Werk. Reduziert in den Anforderungen an die beiden Flötenstimmen und das Klavier, aber überaus treffend in seinen musikalischen Aussagen, wurden die Stücke wahrscheinlich in pädagogischer Absicht, für junge, aufstrebende Musiker geschrieben und stellen daher aus heutiger Sicht eine großartige Entdeckung für diese Besetzung dar, die mit diesen beiden Bänden eine wunderbare Bereicherung für das Repertoire auf diesem Schwierigkeitsniveau erfährt.
