Description:
Due to the rediscovery of early music and the interpretation with original instruments, the baroque traverso flute is also enjoying increasing popularity. Hans-Martin Linde (- 1930), one of the most distinguished traverso players, uses the special tonal appeal of the traverso flute for the first time for a composition in the language of our time.
Linde understands the title in a double-meaning sense: On the one hand, this piece is about 'playing' the instrument, i.e. trying out different sound possibilities and passages. On the other hand, the composition contains 'allusions' to well-known flute pieces and memories of common flutistic figures of earlier styles.
