Description:
Le Carillon de Dunkerque' is a traditional dance tune which has been popular in the Flemish area of France for over 200 years. It is reportedly heard from the belfry of Dunkirk every hour (on the half hour) and is still danced throughout the region during carnivals. The form of this version is AaAbAcAdAeA (capital A representing the refrain) which is similar to the 'rondeau' of the trouberes. This form affords an opportunity for various players to be featured. Instrumentation: Piccolo, 4 Standard Flutes, Alto Flute, and Bass Flute.
