English and Irish Hymn Preludes for Flute

English & Irish Hymn Tunes for Flute is a fresh compilation of traditional and sacred melodies from medieval to modern times that have been reborn as hymns. Most tunes in this collection are named for the small villages where they originated or were first heard Aberystwyth, Bunessan, Inniskeen, Thaxted, and Kingsfold. Others reference historical events, people, and folk songs Slane, St. Patrick’s Breastplate, and Greensleeves. More familiar titles for these eight include Morning Has Broken, Star of the County Down, Jupiter from Holst’s suite The Planets, Be Thou My Vision, I Bind Unto Myself Today, and What Child Is This. The eight settings are carefully crafted for a wide range of seasons and venues: churches, house concerts, folk festivals, and concert halls. The book includes the piano accompaniment and the 16-page flute part.
