Description:
Idiom is a work with an extremely interesting harmonic and rhythmic structure, characteristic of Paweł Łukaszewski's individual compositional style. It was written for flute or piccolo (ad libitum) and organ.
This composition requires interpretative creativity of the performers, as well as balanced colour in all the registers and precise articulation. It is characterised by virtuosic progressions, varied rhythms and dynamics and a changing character. Although the work is notated very precisely, the composer leaves the performers considerable interpretative freedom in many respects.
The closed form, dialogues between the instruments and Romantic narrative make Idiom an exceptional work in the repertoire for these forces.
- Łukasz Długosz, translated by John Comber.
