Description:
Stephen Gibson’s *Quem Pastores Laudavere* is based on an old German Christmas carol whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. With simplicity and reverence, the work depicts the birth of Christ and the Annunciation to the shepherds. Stephen Gibson presents a musical interpretation that is warm, luminous, and imbued with spirituality. The traditional melody forms the heart of the work and is surrounded by a colorful and nuanced accompaniment. The various sections alternate between gentle moments, solemn passages, and festive outbursts. The composition particularly emphasizes the lyrical and expressive character of the theme. The musical development naturally leads to an increasingly radiant atmosphere. Quem Pastores Laudavere thus creates a warm and deeply evocative Christmas atmosphere.
