Description:
This work was commissioned by flutist Tony Watson, who suggested a piece somehow related to water and even provided a long list of water tunes (ballads, sea chanties and others) which could serve as a thematic basis for the composition, resuling in the selection of four 'river tunes'. Each movement of 'Rivers Run Through It' (two are folk ballads, one is a hymntune, and one is a children's round) includes a traditional tune associated in some way with a river or stream. Movements: I. Moderato, II. Allegro scherzando, III. Adagio sostenuto, IV. Allegro
