Description:
Unlike some of the early compositions attributed to him, Quantz's Opus 2 is one of the works legitimized by his autobiography. The duets were first published in 1759, a few years after the 'Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen'. The importance that Quantz himself attached to them is shown by the composer's three-page preliminary report, which deals in detail with the usefulness and composition of duets, but also with the practical teaching purpose, thus documenting the pieces as a practical supplement to the 'Versuch'.
