Description:
The six sonatas for three flutes by Boismortier have a lot of charm because of their rare sound form. All movements - in their simple manner - are set with imagination and sense of sound. Boismortier knew how to combine the elegant attitude of his music with the diverse compositional styles of his time. Thus the sonatas are very different, among other things with regard to the forms of the movements. All three voices are treated approximately equally. Although designated in the original title as sonatas for three flutes, all pieces sound very well with three violins or oboes as well. Mixed instrumentations are also possible.
