Description:
When talking about Richter's flute compositions printed during his lifetime, six solo sonatas for flute or violin with basso continuo are mentioned again and again in addition to the sonatas with concert harpsichord (Festival of Sequences) and a series of noteworthy duets, which fortunately have only been republished to a small extent, but one will search for them in vain. Of the six sonatas published by John Walsh in London under a deliberately misleading title, only one, namely the first, is actually by Richter. This beautiful work, a truly superb flute piece that must have been composed during Richter's early Mannheim period, is presented here in an edition for practical use.
