Description:
The present flute sonata serves as the "finale" of a series of six sonatas for wind instruments, which the composer began in 2013 with a clarinet sonata (op. 82).
In the present piece, different epochs and styles are intended to merge together without the audience noticing. The basic idea was to create connections between the form and concepts of music by combining the musical style of the 19th century with the harmonic ideas of the 20th century.
It was premiered in Tokyo in June 2024, with flutist Makiko Suzuki and Kenichi Nishizawa at the piano.
