Theobald Böhm (1794-1881), equally famous in his day as the designer of the flute named after him and as a concert flutist, introduced his new instrument not only with his own compositions, but also with the arrangements of pieces by other composers that were so popular in the 19th century. The three duets in this collection - Böhm's models are vocal duets by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Franz Lachner - show the way in which musicians made well-known works their own at the time; they are still attractive today as melodious and sonorous, technically not too demanding playing literature.
