Description:
With these variations, Friedrich Silcher (1789-1860) arranged a theme from the opera La Molinara (The Miller) by Giovanni Paisiello, composed in 1788. With the text Mich fliehen alle Freuden, this melody is also known in Germany and has almost become a folk song.
Friedrich Silcher, known today primarily as a composer of folk songs, shows here a precise knowledge of the possibilities on the flute and knows how to develop beautiful and interesting variations with very different characters from the simple, singable theme.
Silcher with a difference: one of the composer's few instrumental compositions is presented to the musician once again in this edition (previously in the series Das 19. Jahrhundert, out of print for several years).
