Description:
This Ballade for horn and chamber orchestra is the first of a series of 'mini-concerti' for solo instrument, each lasting about 12 minutes with classical Mozart orchestral accompaniment. The work is in one movement, divided into three main parts - slow, lyrical / fast, energetic / slow, fading out. It is a contemporary, virtuoso work with a wide range of colors and timbres in the solo part, in the lyrical as well as the very rhythmic passages. This piano reduction of the orchestral score can be simplified by the pianist as required. Roger Steptoe would like to thank the Swiss horn player Bruno Schneider for his support and help in editing the work.
