Zdenék Fibich

Poem

Poem, composed in 1893, is undoubtedly the best-known work by the Czech composer Zdeněk Fibich. This theme originally comes from the incidental music for the theatrical trilogy *Hippodamia*. With its great melodic simplicity, it captivates with its deeply lyrical character and expressive gentleness. The melody unfolds with natural elegance and is carried by a sincere and delicate emotion. At times tinged with nostalgia, at others filled with hope, it invites listeners to dream and reflect inwardly. Its calm and warm atmosphere makes it a work that is particularly popular with audiences. Over time, "Poem" has become one of the emblems of Czech Romanticism. Its expressiveness and emotional intensity have earned it international recognition. More than a century after its creation, this musical piece still moves listeners with its timeless beauty.
