Description:
Music for a Lovelorn Lenanshee by Jonathan Dove is a 10-minute work for oboe (or clarinet) and piano which develops the traditional Irish song My Lagan Love about a 'Lenanshee', a fairy mistress, into a jig and other dances. The work was commissioned by the Park Lane Group with funds provided by the London Arts Board. The original version for oboe and piano was first performed on 9 January 1994 by Jonathan Kelly (oboe) and Alison Procter (piano), as part of the PLG Young Artists concerts, New Year Series, at the Purcell Room, Southbank, London. This edition comprises the piano score and oboe part (EP 7638a). The version with clarinet (EP 7638b) is available for sale, too.
