The development and evolution of the form of the Musical Carol, from the XV century to its peak and maximum splendor in the XVIII century, went through numerous vicissitudes. Nowadays it is a poetic-musical composition, with a simple melody, generally composed of a refrain-couple-chorus, to be sung at Christmas time. That is to say, the word villancico, in Spain, is used to name the Christmas songs; in France, they are called, Noëls; in England, Carols; and in Germany, Weihnachtslieder.
