Description:
Alpenglühen is a piece for 4 or 5 bass recorders (BBBSb/SKb) that is also ideal for recorder orchestras. The optional sub-contrabass (or sub-grossbass) part may be omitted. The piece can be expanded to include an additional percussion part. The part for the first bass recorder can also be played on a tenor recorder; a part score in treble clef is included with the publication. Raphael B. Meyer’s composition uses only notes from the natural scale, evoking the sound of alphorn music. The alpine effect is enhanced by built-in echoes, as if the music were being reflected off a mountain range.
