Seit geraumer Zeit befinden sich Antonio Vivaldis bekannte Solokonzerte RV 444 und 445 im MUSICA RARA-Katalog - allerdings nur in der Originalbesetzung mit Streichern und Basso continuo. Die beiden Neuausgaben für Blockflöte und Klavier schliessen also eine lang existierende Lücke. Die Frage nach der Wahl des Solo-Instruments wird vom Herausgeber im Vorwort eingehend diskutiert und eindeutig zugunsten der Sopranino-Blockflöte entschieden. Dennoch lässt sich die hochvirtuose Solopartie alternativ auch durch andere (Block-)Flöteninstrumente ausführen.
