The pieces are particularly suited for performance by a recorder quartet in the SATB configuration, although most movements can also be played in the SAAB configuration. The spring songs also reveal their special charm when performed by a viola da gamba ensemble or with other melodic instruments. For violas or violas da gamba, the two middle parts are also available for download in alto clef notation.
