With Gnossienne No. 2, Erik Satie continues his exploration of a free, reduced and deeply introspective musical language. The work was composed towards the end of the 19th century and is characterized by the absence of time signatures and a deliberately floating structure that gives the performer great creative freedom. The seemingly simple melodic lines create a mysterious, almost meditative atmosphere in which time seems to stand still. The arrangement by Colette Mourey preserves Satie's unmistakable spirit and emphasizes the subtle harmonic nuances as well as the restrained poetry of the music. This version invites a moment of calm, reflection and inner contemplation.
