With its unusual instrumentation of three tenor and three bass recorders, Glen Shannon’s new piece alludes to the popular 17th-century intrada music. The part for the first tenor recorder can also be played on an alto recorder. The composition, divided into three sections (Intrada-Tripla-Outrada), would also work well in a "loud" Renaissance consort—featuring cornets, dulcians, or trombones.
