Description:
In twelve pieces for recorder quartet, Raphael B. Meyer captures light-filled atmospheric scenes. "Solis Canticum" is the direct sequel to "Lunae Canticum," Meyer’s moon songs for low-register instruments, published in 2021. In the twelve sun songs of "Solis Canticum," the composer now calls for a high-register recorder ensemble (SAAT). The pieces are written in a romantic, tone-painting style. Phrases reminiscent of the Viennese Classical period and the 16th century break through and contrast with the lush tonality.
