The composer’s first impressions of New York were from the deck of the Queen Mary 2 before light . Gradually, as the dawn mist lifted, the shape of the New York skyline came into view. On visiting Central Park , the soulful playing of a lone alto saxophone player gave him the idea for this set of six pieces for Alto Saxophone and Piano which capture the movement and spirit of this great city.
