Description:
An arrangement that changes from a simple 3/4 time signature to morne passages in 5/4 and presents the Christmas classic in a completely new guise.
Instrumentation: saxophone quintet or quartet s/a-a-a/t-(t)-b
The arrangement begins in the traditional manner with classical duet passages in 3/4 time. In part B, reinterpretations are added before the theme appears in full in part C. Overall, the arrangement remains rather traditional up to this section. It then moves into a slightly swinging "double-time feeling", but changes to 5/4 time, which makes the arrangement more demanding. The level of difficulty changes directly from 2 to 4. From part D, the theme first appears over the 5/4 accompaniment, before returning in full in part E in a new key. Part F returns to the original key, with the final part of the melody presented as a thinning turnaround before coming to a surprising end.
The arrangement can be played in various instrumentations as a quintet or quartet and presents the Christmas classic in a completely new guise.
