Description:
The three-part composition is characterized by a balanced combination of calm, tonal richness and rhythmic vitality. In the last section, the low saxophones emerge as soloists, giving them a rare, concise role within the ensemble sound. The work is designed for two saxophone quartets in standard instrumentation and requires at least eight performers. Asetelma – Finnish for "still life" – unfolds a clear formal structure and convinces with ingenuity, transparency and subtle musical design.
