Description:
The word "heroes" is bandied around a lot these days in contemporary society. When I set out to write Heroes, for saxophonist Amy Dickson, I was thinking of what it must be like to be one of those medical professionals: to get up in the morning and just think, is this the day? Is this the day when I might contract the virus? There must be a sense of foreboding, of dread. Hopefully this can transform to triumph by the end when they have helped so many people, yet survived to go back, again, tomorrow. There are so many people who are putting their lives on the line for the rest of us in the current situation (the COVID-19 pandemic.) They, to me, are today's real heroes.
