Jaunt is a marvel for classical saxophonists, revealing an intimate poetry. Not very difficult to perform, this piece will find its place in saxophone classes from the sixth year onwards, as well as in concert halls. The romantic style is underpinned by an introductory rubato and a lyrical middle section, while the livelier movement takes us into a whimsical classicism: surprising coming from a jazz musician of the calibre of Branford Marsalis. The few articulations present suggest total freedom of interpretation and a wide choice of musical inflections. Both performer and audience are in for a real treat.
