Description:
The composition is the result of conversations with my friends from the Insula Sax Quartet: Vincenzo Morello, Sebastiano La Bella, Fabio Carrubba and Corrado Stefano Linares. This work is dedicated to them.
It is a fantasy in four scenes with links, internal self-quotations and the recurrence of harmonic and melodic elements, concealing a complex contrapuntal work. Moments of great seriousness are concealed behind a veil of lightness.
The first part begins with an animated passage, changes into a more balanced and dramatic section and ends with a short fanfare.
In the second part, a chromatic melody is "pepped up" by the instruments at a tight tempo until the playful conclusion. A melancholy waltz-like sequence follows, which ends theatrically in a tense, sombre section consisting of tremolos and chromatic steps.
The conclusion is in a light-hearted jig tempo, which briefly changes to a calm, more reflective phase, which then ends again in a lively and very playful movement.
