Originally published as one of three pieces in a series entitled Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen, Liebesleid is a short piece for violin and piano by Fritz Kreisler. The Austrian-American violinist and composer often played these pieces as encores in his own concerts and later published them for solo piano. Fritz Kreisler's Liebesleid was primarily arranged for virtuoso piano by Sergei Rachmaninoff, a friend of Kreisler. This arrangement for alto saxophone and piano was transcribed by Jascha Gurewich.
