Description:
The most recent work on this program, precisely the one written for Sandro, is entitled Rondes de printemps (!), written under the Percheron sun in May 2020, in a world where a devious virus had imposed total silence. It's surely one of my most radical and implacable pieces, so unambiguous and directional is its purpose. It's a game of loops and periodicity in constant contradiction, a polyphonic texture entrusted to a single instrument, musical ideas that contract and expand linearly, mechanisms that nothing seems to be able to upset and that demand formidable rhythmic precision from the performer. Although the title refers to Claude Debussy, there are no direct references to the composer of Le Faune, except perhaps for a certain taste for obsessive melodies and fleeting arabesques.
