Description:
André Waignein met Sergio Yánez Quintana in 2012 during a conducting course at Alicante University, in Spain. Sergio is also the director of the International Saxophone and Jazz Course that is held every year on Gran Canaria (Spain). This is how he came to ask André Waignein to write a very eclectic piece for the Great Saxophone Ensemble that would use a number of contrasting elements (classical, romantic, jazz and latino). This work is a fantasy in which all the musical aspects of the saxophone are highlighted. An optional rhythm section can be used for the jazz and latino passages. Saxophone Colors is a varied and spectacular composition.
