Description:
Autumn is an arrangement of the third movement of my first brass quintet (Seasons BIM ENS46). This slow and melodic piece is inspired by the subtle melancholy of autumn and was arranged for flugelhorn and piano at the suggestion of my faculty colleague John Aley (University of Wisconsin) to complement his trumpet and piano recital CD, which already includes my sonata for this instrumentation (BIM TP290). Then I also wrote a version for tuba or euphonium and piano (BIM TU140) and a version for trombone and piano (BIM TB71). The tuba and piano version was premiered by Tom Curry in 2008.
