Description:
Fanfare K.S. is a concise, festive work composed in honor of Karsten Schöning and his many years of dedicated work at the Freiburg Musik Hochschule. The scoring for two antiphonal choirs, each with three trumpets, enables both spatial dialogs and powerful collective statements. At times the trumpet groups answer each other across the ensemble, while at other moments they unite in an impressive unison. The harmonic language is deliberately dissonant, but comes across as energetic and lively rather than sombre or aggressive. This bright tension gives the fanfare a modern and colorful character. Thanks to its festive spirit and flexible ceremonial tone, the work is suitable for a variety of festive occasions. The composition places particular emphasis on clarity, rhythmic drive and architectural balance. It offers performers and listeners alike a compact musical homage, characterized by energy, contrast and propulsive movement.
