Description:
8 artistic chorale arrangements for three trumpets or three horns.
Contents:
1. O Heiland reiss die Himmel auf
2. Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her
3. Es ist ein Ros entsprungen
4. Christ ist erstanden
5. Nun bitten wir den Heiligen Geist
6. Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr
7. Lobe den Herren
8. Nun danket alle Gott The present eight chorale arrangements refer to church hymns that are known and appreciated in both major Christian denominations. The pieces can be used both in the context of the liturgy of worship and in sacred concerts. In both cases, use as a chorale prelude in the proper sense of the word as well as an independent contribution is equally conceivable. Also the combination with other movements to the same chorale melody (choral movements, organ pieces, orchestral works ...) up to the formation of suites is attractive. For the sake of completeness, it should be noted that the chorale arrangements in our booklet are not song accompaniments. All pieces quote the song melody mentioned in the title in the sense of a 'cantus firmus' two or three times in succession. The melody always remains recognizable to the listener, even if it appears ornamented or wanders through the various voices of the movement. Care was taken to involve all three voices in the musical action with interesting, often contrapuntal tasks. The course of the main voice (to be singled out) was marked in the playing score. In the arrangement of the three-part movement, a performance by Bb trumpets was thought of first and foremost. The pieces are also very suitable for French horns. From case to case it would then have to be checked whether reading in F or Eb is more favorable (range of the first voice!). Of course, the pieces can be played solo as well as chorally. Both have their charm.
