Description:
I really enjoy reading next to the Salzach river and I often lose myself in it. The power of water - the magnificent, magical, powerful element of the laws of nature. Small whirlpools that form. The bright sun that reflects in the surface of the water. Calm that sets in. These four elements can be found time and again in RIVER. The short, quick interjections make the small whirlpools audible. The glitter of the sunlight in the delicate waves can be found in the staccato of the trumpets. The force of the water can be heard in the strong dynamics and the dominant emphasis. Tranquility lies in the flugelhorn solos. The river rushes by tirelessly; it never stands still. With RIVER I wanted to express the refreshment nature offers us. Therefore, the piece is accompanied by a constant ”suction” that always goes on. The music would probably never come to an end if the title had been taken literally. But ultimately, the composition culminates in a brilliant conclusion. (Dana Schraml - October 2022)
