Description:
This is a collection of four pieces in ascending grades and suitable for working in parallel with a player's progression. It provides interesting music at a rudimentary level. Grade 1. Put 2 and 2 together is in 2 to the bar, and covers the scale of C, some basic note values with dynamics, and emphasizes the contrast between long and short notes. Grade 2. Go Round Merrily, ventures into D major and waltz time with a carousel-like legato melody. Grade 3. Rising thro' the Ranks, is simply marching 4 steps to the bar, and with staccato triplets and Eb key signature and plus accidentals. Grade 4. Dizzy Izzy is in the Rock idiom where the quaver is basically even but there are plenty of accents to be observed for added authenticity. The key is E minor, with the harmonic and natural forms present.
