Description:
The source of inspiration for this Tänze for tuba and accordion (or piano) is the folk music of the Balkans with its unique colors: the liveliness, the composite rhythms, but also the melancholy and nostalgia. The technical and lyrical resources of the tuba are exploited in three tonal movements. In the third movement there are also multiphonics, double sounds produced by notes sung and played into the instrument. The work was premiered in October 2011 at the International Accordion Festival 'Acordeões do Mundo' à Torres Verdas, in Portugal.
