Description:
When I was at school, I hated homework and most of the time I didn't do it at all... so I got bad marks and my parents were unhappy. When James Self ordered me 'a' work, I had the idea of transforming dry, logical structures, such as DNA molecules, into music through various mutations. Chemistry: each note is the name of a chemical product, for example: H (hydrogen), Ca (calcium), Fe (iron), Ga (gallium), Ge (germanium), Ag (silver), Cd (cadmium), Ba (barium), Hf (hafnium), Hg (mercury), Db (dubnium). Physics: Dynamics (volume) is a dose of energy. Changing these doses allows composers to dramatize their music. This movement is an extreme dynamic exercise in which it is particularly important to maintain good intonation and tonal balance. Mathematics: the prime numbers (2,3,5,7,11, etc.) are numbers that can only be divided by themselves or by 1. I had fun with all the possibilities for making music with them. Homework done! With love for my parents. Roland Szentpali, April 2012, Hong Kong
