Composed by Johann Strauss II in 1870, Im Krapfenwald'l (Op. 336) is one of the most picturesque polkas by the famous "Waltz King". Inspired by an excursion restaurant in Vienna's Krapfenwaldl forest area, the work paints a lively picture of the cheerful and rural atmosphere of this popular meeting place. The humorous imitation of the cuckoo call, which gives the piece its unmistakable character, is particularly appealing. With lively rhythms, sparkling melodies and brilliant orchestration, Strauss creates a musical scene full of nature, joie de vivre and Viennese charm. This lively composition remains a shining example of his melodic inventiveness and the art of Viennese dance music to this day. Bertrand Moren's arrangement fully preserves the freshness and liveliness of this popular work and offers the audience a sound experience that is as elegant as it is rousing.
