Mephisto (3'40) The work The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra signed me as guest principal tuba for the 2011-2012 season. Since I could only take my Baer bass tuba with me, I practiced all the Blazhevich, Grigoriev, etc. etudes. Etudes and finally asked Roger Bobo what exercises he played on the bass tuba when he was still in the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His answer: '... whatever you want! You can write your own exercises! I followed his advice and got started. But things soon moved in the direction of concert etudes. However, in my mind I heard additional instruments alongside the tuba and later put these notes into a piano part. The work can be played very well with the tuba alone, but the piano part brings additional colors.
