The music appears predominantly meditative with a pop-jazz undertone, characterized by improvisational interplay of the flugelhorn. 10 songs form a dense arc of tension: it starts in a calmly flowing groove, reaches its climax with the Magni-cat in samba style via archaic echoes, increasingly dense rhythms and timbres and ends in a calm conclusion with a declamatory Kyrie in 5/4 time, followed by an emotional gospel psalm and a song of blessing.
