Description:
Composed in 2014 for the Wellensian Consort (conductor: Christopher Finch), At Evening is composed in the style of an evening benediction. As a result, it is wonderfully suited as the praise song of an evening service or as the benediction song of an evening Mass. The text, penned by the composer, invokes God for his blessings, for love and security as night falls. The music is suitably soothing, using Todd's characteristically rich and warm harmonies and well-formed melodies. The simple piano part supports the mixed choir (SATB with occasional voice divisions) in this short piece for beginning to advanced choirs that singers and audience alike will thoroughly enjoy.
